Emmanuel School of the Deaf is a private Christian school that offers a quality education for the deaf and partially hearing in Puerto Rico. One of the foundations of our program will be Early Intervention Services. This program will provide support for families to acquire better communication skills, and most importantly, the program would help to have an improved family relationship.
We recognize that the need for education for the deaf in Puerto Rico goes beyond the age of childhood and youth. As Emmanuel College grows, we will also provide more learning opportunities for adults.
Emmanuel School of the Deaf is fully licensed by the Council of Education of Puerto Rico for preschool through 12th grade. Classes of basic reading and math skills are also offered for adults.
When a child has hearing loss, even if it is mild or profound, he or she experiences unique challenges. Not only is communication difficult, but also their social, emotional and academic development are affected. There are many deaf students and partially hearing in Puerto Rico. These students need individualized education plans according to their needs. Parents need information regarding special services needed and how to access them. This will enable students to reach their full potential in all areas of their lives.
The vision of the Christian Association for the Education of the Deaf and the Emmanuel Academy of the Deaf is:
• Provide Christ-centered learning environments for deaf people and their families.
• Offer preschool, elementary, and secondary education for deaf and partially hearing students; with excellence as a rule at the Emmanuel Academy of the Deaf.
• Provide Early Intervention Services in support of the deaf and their family.
• Train the deaf with the necessary skills to contribute to society, be productive citizens and be faithful followers of Christ.
We believe that every student and every family deserves the opportunities to develop their full potential
